This week, Roosevelt House hosted an evening, in collaboration with the Sisterhood is Global Institute/Frontline Women’s Fund, to remember and honor two women whose lives helped shape the women’s rights movement: Gloria Steinem and Robin Morgan. The evening brought together friends, colleagues, writers, activists, artists, and fellow organizers to reflect on Robin and Gloria’s lives and the movements they helped build. Through conversation, music, and personal stories, the program offered many different ways of remembering two women whose work reached generations of people around the world.For Frontline Women’s Fund, an initiative of the Sisterhood is Global Institute; their legacy is very much a part of our own history. Robin Morgan founded the Sisterhood is Global Institute and Gloria Steinem served as a longtime board member and Co-Convenor of the Frontline Women’s Fund. Gloria’s legacy also lives on through the Gloria Steinem Equality Fund to End Sex Trafficking, which supports frontline organizations working to end sex trafficking, many led by survivors. Robin and Gloria’s belief in the power of women’s organizing continues to shape our work and our commitment to supporting frontline movements around the world.We’re grateful to Roosevelt House and to everyone who helped make this evening possible.
