International Women’s Day 2025

We are not wrong. We are not wrong to want safety, freedom, and power over our own bodies. We are not wrong to demand a world where war is not waged on our gender, where rape is not a battle strategy, where we are not forced into silence, displacement, hunger, and death.

This International Women’s Day, we honor the women on the frontlines of war, gender apartheid, and injustice. Around the world, women are risking everything to fight back. But they cannot do it alone.

  • In Ukraine, women are on the frontlines of war—defending their country, caring for displaced families, and surviving conflict-related sexual violence and sex trafficking,  but our grantee is offering critical services to survivors seeking refuge in neighboring countries.
  • In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), brutal violence against women and girls is escalating, with sexual violence being used as a weapon of war, but our grantees are running shelters, providing life-saving medical and psychological care, and fighting for accountability.
  • In Afghanistan, girls have been locked out of school for over 3 years, their futures stolen by the Taliban, but our grantee is running secret classrooms, ensuring that girls continue to learn despite the risks.
  • In Sierra Leone, parliament continues to exclude Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) from the Child Rights Act, leaving thousands of girls unprotected, but our grantee is mobilizing survivors, pressuring lawmakers, and creating safe alternative spaces for girls.
  • In Peru, feminist activists are resisting rising authoritarianism, machismo, and gender-based violence, but our grantee is leading grassroots movements, demanding justice, and ensuring women’s rights are not erased.
  • In Somalia, the drought has left millions on the brink of famine, forcing women and girls to walk for days in search of water, but our grantee is delivering emergency aid, protecting women and girls from exploitation, and fighting to ensure that climate justice includes women’s rights.

Frontline women are leading the fight for justice, but they need more than words of solidarity—they need resources, action, and a global outcry.

This International Women’s Day, stand with the women who refuse to be silenced. We are calling on you: Fund the frontline. Fuel the fight.
