Thoughts from Aminata on International Day of the Girl

October 11, 2022 | Donor Direct Action

Dear friends,

From loss of education in Afghanistan to FGM in Sierra Leone and sex trafficking in Nepal today’s girls continue to face some of the worst forms of violence and discrimination. On this International Day of the Girl, let us remember that girls are leaders, revolutionaries, and change-makers. Together, girls and frontline women’s organizations are bravely challenging patriarchy and tirelessly working to safeguard girls' rights. Watch as Aminata, a young woman from Sierra Leone, questions the harmful traditional practice of FGM and shows us the undeniable courage of today’s girls.
